The US just voted, and the Democrats now have control of congress and the senate.
This is good news for most Americans. Maybe not for Elon Musk, his whole operation now lives in a blue state.
But it’s also a good time to remember that Silicon Valley showed us their true face over the last two years and to remember what their executives thought they could get away with. They didn’t hide their contempt, they practically built it into their product roadmaps.
Even if they quietly revert their maps or add their pronouns back to their email signatures, it doesn’t mean it’s all flowers and rainbows. Don’t mistake a change of costume for a change of character. Monopolists can tidy up their shop window, but they still own the shop and they still want your data.
The CLOUD act still lets US authorities request anything you leave on US-owned servers and big tech’s lobbyists will keep working against you and your clients.
No reason to start trusting them with your data again …or ever.
