The best software money can buy
While recently evaluating software for a client, I contacted a number of vendors in the space.
As soon as I mentioned I was doing this on behalf of a client, most immediately offered kickbacks or affiliate fees.
I pride myself on remaining neutral in this work, so that’s pretty much the opposite of what I’m looking for. But it says something troubling about the market itself that their first move isn’t to explain the product or give me a full demo account to properly poke around in (which is what I actually need) but, to put it bluntly, try to bribe me.
How many organisations out there are limping along on the wrong or suboptimal software because someone got a kickback or taken out to lunch? That’s a market where the vendor with the best product loses to the vendor with the fattest referral fee.
The most dangerous software recommendation is the one that sounds independent but was bought by the vendor.
